Art Nouveau

Summary

Art Nouveau is a decorative, asymmetrical style of art that was very popular in the last decade of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century.

Tendrils and plant stems were often incorporated into the work but flames, waves and long flowing hair were also found.

History

The Art Nouveau movement first began in Britain, but then became popular all around the world.

The Art Nouveau Movement played an important role in the growth of abstract art, and although it didn’t see widespread recognition beyond 1914 it remains popular with some artists.
