Summary

Impressionist artists tried to show the effects of light on the surface of objects, such as the reflection of sunlight on things at different points in the day. They wanted to paint the picture as how you would see it if you took a glimpse at it, and painted out doors trying to catch the exact way lighting would be if you were there.


History

Impressionism, first of the Modern Movements, is a French 19th century art movement.
