Op Art or Optical art is a style similar to abstract art. It is a term used for paintings and sculptures that use optical illusions and effects.
History
In 1965, after the success of “The Responsive Eye” exhibition in New York, Op-Art became more fashionable and was incorporated into fashion designs and stores.
Artists
The main artists in this art movement were Victor Varsarely and Bridget Riley. The patterns and colours in their paintings gave a disoriented effect.
