AboutJohn Constable was born on the 11th of June, 1776, in East Bergholt, Suffolk. He was a corn merchant and later in 1793 he started training as a miller for his father's business. At 20 years old, Constable had already met numerous artists. In 1799 he got his parents permission to study at the Royal Academy Schools in London. In 1822, he exhibited his work and refused a appointment as military drawing master at the Royal Military Academy. He was fully comitted to his work as an artist. |
