Wright; Mr. W. Briddon, at Walton, and others; at New Brampton, are iron works, and in the neighbourhood is a coal mine. "

Since the late 18th century Brampton has been extensively involed in pottery-making. Right up until the 1950s, there were companies producing local pottery wares.
