The Skating Minister after Henry Raeburn, 30” x 25” unframed £324

This iconic piece, known as “The Skating Minister ”, has the full title of Reverend Robert Walker (1755 - 1808) Skating on Duddingston Loch, the site of the first recognised figure skating club.

It is a major attraction at National Galleries Scotland, fittingly close to the original painted scene.

It is attributed to Sir Henry Raeburn though it is quite unlike most of his other work, and it’s attribution has been questioned by some scholars.

For now, National Galleries Scotland are staying with Raeburn, who was a close friend of the Reverend Robert Walker.

The painting is deservedly celebrated for it’s unique composition and style, which is summed up perfectly in this description posted by National Galleries Scotland: “In his combination of a sporting picture with a portrait, Raeburn has managed to create an image which is both dynamic and wonderfully serene.

Our reproduction is close in size to the original at 760 x 640mm (30” x 25”)

It is currently unframed and available for just £324, a 40% saving on our commission price.
