Margaret, Countess of Blessington by Thomas Lawrence

Margaret, Countess of Blessington by Thomas Lawrence, 1822

Original Size: 26 x 36"

This portrait has been said to be one of Lawrence's finest characterisations.

It was exhibited in 1822 at the Royal Academy when, according to Byron, it ‘set all London raving’. Later Lady Blessington became a renowned novelist and literary editor, and she established a famous salon at Gore House, Kensington.
