The Recumbent Nude by Amedeo Modigliani

Amedeo Modigliani lived the authentic artistic lifestyle, his creativity flowing from experience that included heavy use of drugs and alcohol. He had been influenced early on in his career by Toulouse-Lautrec and later by Cezanne, but he developed his own trade mark style, often painting nudes in a languid, long limbed style that fitted well with the burgeoning expressionist movement.

In 1917 he painted a whole series of nudes, some for the Paris Show of that year, but they were too explicit for the public at that time, and were not well received. Now they are rightly celebrated as magnificent interpretations of the human form.

This painting from 1917 was originally 65 x 100 cm. Our client commissioned a “Top Quality” reproduction in size 79 x 122 cm (31 x 48 inches).

Our client was delighted with the painting and frame and sent us these comments:

...the picture looks exactly how I wanted it to be - I can't spot any discrepancy compared to the original ... it was absolutely perfect. The suggested frame matched the painting very well and it was as close to the original as I desired. > It now takes pride of place in my entrance hall! Thank you for the fantastic commission, service and delivery; I look forward to using your services again the next time I require a painting reproduction.

The client also wanted the painting stretched and framed by our Fine Art Trade Guild qualified craftsmen. We suggested a selection of frames that would meet the criteria of our client, who chose a superb Gold foil finished moulding from our "essentials" range.

Our huge range of mouldings, all at extremely competitive prices, can be seen on our sister website, Brampton Framing. In order to help our client choose a suitable style of frame for their painting we created some "mock-ups" using visualisation software, so that clients can see what their pictures will look like in the frames they are interested in.
