Dido Belle - Johan Zoffany

This painting was commissioned by a customer in Scotland who wanted a reproduction painting for his office at home.

Between the customer and ourselves, we chose a period frame from the Swept English Range. At 4" thick, in an antique gold finish it really finishes the painting beautifully. We are always happy to give framing advice and have a team of professional framers in the workshop that have years of experience.

Dido Elizabeth Belle was England's first mixed race aristocrat. Born to a wealthy Englishman in 1761, she was brought to England and placed in the house of her Uncle - the 1st Earl of Mansfield.

She was brought up in Kenwood House and treated as one of the family and she is rumoured to have had great influence on the first steps to abolishing slavery in England as her Uncle made a number of landmark rulings.

_Just received the painting and I am so pleased with it. It looks so special and the frame is perfect!

Thanks for all your help throughout the process, it has been a pleasure._
