The Scream - Edvard Munch

This is without doubt one of the most famous pieces of art in the world and has been described as "The Mona Lisa of our time". Painted in 1893 by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, this piece tells the story of a dramatic experience Munch had while out walking with his friends.

Although Munch created four versions of this piece; the first being in paint, one in crayon, another in pastel and the final version in tempera paints on board - we used the final painted piece as a base for this reproduction. The vivid colours and bold brush marks are what makes this painting so eye-catching and interesting, and our reproduction artists have done a fantastic job at recreating this.

The customer wanted a frame for this painting; something that would compliment the style and age without distracting attention from the detail. We work with a team of professional framers who have years of experience in choosing and making the frames to order. This simple black frame works perfectly with this piece and both ourselves and the customer are very pleased. We offer a full framing service with every commission, working to the standards set by The Fine Art Trade Guild.

The original pastel piece was sold at Sotheby's in 2012 for $120million, the only piece to be privately owned at the time. You can read more about the auction here. But don't worry, you won't have to pay anything like that for a reproduction piece and as you can see, the quality is superb! Please browse our website if you are interested in learning more about this piece of the artist himself.
